Joyce Ogden

This site is a tribute to Joyce. She was much loved and will always be remembered.

Joyce passed away peacefully after a short illness in New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton on 13th March 2024 Aged 72.

Joyce was born in Oldham on 18th September 1951

Joyce loved her school years and was quite a teachers pet! She said her favorite teacher was Miss Hague who had a “Firm but Fair” approach.

After her school and college years Joyce came to Wolverhampton Polytechnic to finish her teacher training course and decided to settle in Wolverhampton.

She started her teaching career at Smestow school in Castlecroft where she went on to teach for 45 years.

I think its safe to say that Joyce also adopted that “Firm but Fair” approach to teaching, thank you Miss Hague, and was well respected by both staff and pupils alike.

Joyce loved Sport. She joined Wolverhampton Ladies Hockey team shortly after arriving in the Midlands. She went on to Captain several teams during her playing career, and made dozens of life long friends.

Football was her great passion and especially Oldham Athletic FC The Latics. Having watched them from about 8 years old.
She truly was a devoted fan, with lots of memorabilia collected during her lifetime adorning the walls of her house. 💙🤍

After retirement she was able to follow her other love Liverpool FC ❤️🤍where she would meet up with friends over food and drinks always enjoying the banter.

During the school holidays in summer months, so NO FOOTBALL,Joyce made it her goal to visit all the football grounds in the league. The Elite 92 club. However, Joyce could not become a member as you had to attend a match at each ground… she was just happy that she did them all in England, Scotland and Wales and had great summers.

R.I.P. Dear Joyce 💔💙🤍💔❤️🤍💔
